After being out for around a month with a groin injury, Wilson returned to net his first league goal for Derby against Brentford last month and followed that with his memorable free kick against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.

“I’m really enjoying my time here,” Wilson told the EFL’s website .

“When I spoke with the gaffer in the summer he told me how he wants his teams to play and I knew straight away it was the right club for me.

“Ever since I’ve come in the lads have been fantastic with me, and I’ve settled in from the start.

“I think the stuff we’ve been playing recently has shown how far we’ve come already from the start of the season.

“It’s massive that I am playing games week-in-week-out, it’s what I wanted and it’s why I moved out on loan. You get into a rhythm, Saturday-Tuesday fixtures most weeks, you feel strong and it can only benefit you.”

The attacking midfielder also heaped praised on his manager, Frank Lampard, in his first post since retiring from football.

“I think he is great, Wilson added. “When you have a manager who has had the playing career that he has had, you try to take as much as you can from him.

“Any tips or advice you really try and take on board, and that is all the players, not just myself.

“He works really well with his coaches around him and you can tell that because the lads are really enjoying their football and coming to training.”
