Mohamed Salah pleased to reach 50 goals for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah scored a brace last night as Liverpool beat Red Star Belgrade 4-0 in the Champions League to leave them top of Group C.

It was particularly important for the Egyptian, too, as his two strikes took him to 50 goals in 65 games for his club.

And Salah was understandably very pleased to have notched such an impressive record so quickly.

“That’s great. I’m happy to score 50 goals for Liverpool,” he said, as quoted by LiverpoolFC.com. “I’m very proud about that and I hope to keep scoring to help the team win games.”

“It was an important game. We knew before the game it was going to be tough, but the most important thing for us is the three points. We are doing well now.”

Salah was also delighted to have teammates Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane join him in putting Red Star to the sword.

“I think we knew how to play with each other,” Salah said.

“The way we play is always different, the style, the system is always different, so today at the beginning it was a little bit tough but we know how to play with each other. We know our quality and we are happy with each other.”

In regard to him taking Liverpool’s penalty, Salah explained: “I shoot always with the national team so I’m not worried about that.

“We have numbers here so Milly is No.1, I’m No.2, so I prepared myself even before the game for that.”

Salah will hope to continue his resurgence when Liverpool take on Cardiff City in the Premier League on Saturday.
