Rumour Mongering: Arsenal Target Liverpool Outcast

After watching Liverpool succeed salvaging their spare parts, Arsenal want to return the favour by signing Alberto Moreno.
There’s something of a battle shaping up for Alberto Moreno. At least if you believe the rumour mongers. Because today, after a smattering of rumours out of Spain linking him with Barcelona over the autumn, he’s attracting interest from another big club: Arsenal.
After watching Liverpool succeed at scavenging their spare parts in recent years—first bringing on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and now being heavily linked with Aaron Ramsey—The Mirror and others claim Arsenal are considering returning the favour with Moreno.
And it might not be quite as out there, as rumours go, as suggestions he’ll go to Barcelona next summer when his Liverpool deal runs down. That’s because new Arsenal manager Unai Emery was his manager back in his Sevilla days and, so say The Mirror, rates him highly.
Plus, Arsenal need a left back. The aging Nacho Monreal is the current starter and Sead Kolasinac, who played 27 league games last season and was expected to take the starting job this year, has fallen out of favour and is yet to make a league appearance for Emery.
Then there’s Moreno, who would come cheap—as in free—allowing Arsenal to preserve funds to strengthen at other positions and who the manager, who has earned a great deal of leeway thanks to his strong start this season, is said to rate. It all seems to add up.
Whether it all seeming to add up—to a sensible rumour, as far as these things go—means it will end up becoming an actual thing that happens is another question. But on the surface at least there’s a certain reasonableness here that Moreno to Barcelona lacked.
