Barcelona keen to offload Ousmane Dembele to Liverpool

Barcelona are reportedly ready and willing to offload Ousmane Dembele as early as January, with Liverpool one of several potential destinations.

The Catalan giants want £100million for the French winger, who they signed for £97million in 2017.

Dembele has fallen out of favour with Barcelona of late, with the young attacker’s sick calls and missed training sessions becoming more frequent.

Barcelona sent their club doctor to Dembele’s home following a recent sick call and found him to be in good health with several other young people asleep at the property in the middle of the day.

Dembele was brought in as a replacement for Neymar, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain, but it appears the Catalan bosses have finally lost patience with him.

And owing to the fact that he was signed from Borussia Dortmund, the La Liga side believe they can move Dembele on to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, with the German manager reportedly interested at one time in signing him.

In addition, Barcelona know that Liverpool now have the spending power under FSG to match Dembele’s price tag after bringing in Virgil van Dijk for £75million, Naby Keita for £52million and Alisson Becker for £67million in 2018, among others.

However, it appears the £100million mooted for Dembele is beyond what Klopp is willing to spend on a player who has proven himself to be difficult to manage.

The Liverpool manager believes other targets of similar quality represent better value for money, and is largely content with his current attacking options.

It seems, unless Barcelona lower their asking price, Ousmane Dembele will not be Anfield-bound anytime soon.
