Jordan Henderson In Doubt For Watford Match After Injury Recurrence

The Liverpool captain is headed back to Melwood for treatment and played no part in England’s match against Croatia.
Despite their best intentions, Liverpool are once again looking at a less than ideal depth situation in central midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains sidelined, likely for the season. James Milner continues to fight the good fight against time, but he can’t hold out forever. Adam Lallana is back but has struggled to find form. Naby KeĂŻta has only recently returned to training following an injury spell of his own.
Now, Jordan Henderson - who likewise had been unavailable for three weeks thanks to a hamstring issue - appears to have suffered an injury setback while away on international duty for England. According to the Echo, the Liverpool captain will return to Melwood for further treatment. He was not part of the picture as Gareth Southgate’s side pulled out a 2-1 victory over Croatia at Wembley.
“Jordan has been carrying a bit of an injury,” explained Southgate. “He had some game time the other night but wasn’t fully happy with it. He’s somebody who always wants to play and in the end I had to take a decision. In these games you’ve got to be clear in your mind and perfectly happy.”
Whether the 28-year-old will be available for Saturday’s visit to Watford remains to be seen. In Henderson’s absence, Gini Wijnaldum and Fabinho have seen more minutes, and if there are no other fitness concerns, manager JĂĽrgen Klopp could once again opt to put all four of Mohamed Salah, Sadio ManĂ©, Roberto Firmino, and Xherdan Shaqiri on the field for the kickoff.
