Liverpool to return for £160million Marco Asensio in the summer

Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio has reportedly returned to the top of Liverpool’s transfer target list, according to the Mirror.

Jurgen Klopp is apparently a big admirer of the Spanish international and wants to bring him to Anfield after failing in a £160million bid for the player last summer.

Spanish journalist Eduardo Inda is now reporting that the Reds will return for the 22-year-old in the summer as they seek to strengthen their attack.

Real Madrid were unwilling to let any more of their top talent leave in the summer after Cristiano Ronaldo departed for Juventus, but may be open to change after enduring a difficult campaign so far this season.

Speaking to Spanish publication OK Diario, Inda said: “This year, an offer of €180m came to Liverpool’s Real Madrid for Asensio.

“The club said no because Cristiano left, but Klopp is in love with the player and will go for the player next summer.”

Asensio would no doubt be a key target for multiple clubs should he become available for transfer, so Liverpool would need to firm up their interest fairly quickly with a sizeable offer if they were to land the Spaniard.
