Mané Ready for PSG Clash
The Reds take on the Parisian superstars on Wednesday
After an intense return to the Premier League this weekend, Liverpool gear up for an incredibly difficult European night when they travel to Parc de Princes to take on Paris Saint-Germain this Wednesday. Napoli and Liverpool are both leading Group C at the moment with six points apiece, but qualifications for the knockout stages are still wide open.
While Liverpool managed to defeat PSG 3-2 in the opening match for both teams, Wednesday’s clash is likely to be made all the more difficult by the possible return to form of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé, a fact that Sadio Mané and the rest of the team are keenly aware of.
“It’s an important game [against PSG]. Neymar, Mbappé, Cavani... even defensively, they are really impressive,” Mané told Telefoot, a French football program, this weekend.
“Kylian Mbappé is an excellent player, he has progressed so fast. This is good for the French national team. He gave you the World Cup this summer. It’s so good for you.”
But despite this, and a few relatively worrying performances in Europe and unconvincing wins in the Premier League, Mané believes that the Reds have what it takes to give PSG a run for their money.
“Our team ethic is fantastic,” Mané added. “Everything we do, we do it together. That’s why we are very strong. It will not be easy against Paris, but with Liverpool, everything is possible.”
Team ethic aside, Liverpool will have to muster up an excellent performance on Wednesday. After that, Liverpool’s final game in Group C will take place in December against Napoli.
