Virgil van Dijk confident Liverpool are looking at Dutch team-mate Matthijs de Ligt

Virgil van Dijk is confident that Liverpool will be looking at his Dutch team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.

The Ajax centre-back has had a promising start to his career, which has led to inevitable links to teams such as Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Juventus.

Liverpool centre-back Van Dijk believes that De Ligt, 19, would be on Liverpool’s radar after showing immense quality in recent times.

Van Dijk told De Telegraaf: “He [de Ligt] is already very far, especially at that age.

“A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.

“He will be on the list, because they have enough scouts at the club.”

Van Dijk also went on to say that if Liverpool approached him for some feedback on De Ligt, he would be more than happy to give it.

Van Dijk said the following if asked if he were as qualified to give an opinion as a scout due to playing next to De Ligt at international level: “No, but if they need my opinion at Liverpool, I’ll give it.”
