Alisson sets club record with faultless 16 game Premier League start

Liverpool spent big to bring in Alisson Becker from Roma in the summer, temporarily making the Brazilian the most expensive goalkeeper in the history of football at £67million.

That record was soon smashed by Chelsea, who forked out over £70million on Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Reds’ investment seems to have paid off, however, as Alisson has added a further level of quality and assurance at the back.

Since his arrival, Liverpool have conceded only six league goals in 16 games, and the 26-year-old has now set a very impressive record alongside that almighty stat.

The Brazilian keeper has surpassed fellow South American Javier Mascherano’s record of a 15 game unbeaten run to start his Liverpool league career, totting up 16 undefeated league appearances to date.

Alisson has kept a stunning ten clean sheets in that time, with Jurgen Klopp’s backline investments proving to pay dividends.

Liverpool now sit top of the Premier League by one point after Chelsea stunned Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Alisson and his teammates will have to be on top form if they hope to extend his stunning start as the Reds face challenging visits from top six sides Manchester United and Arsenal over the coming weeks, as well as further difficult tests against Wolves and Newcastle over the busy festive period.
