Cardiff City interested in signing Nathaniel Clyne in January
Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock confirms that Nathaniel Clyne is a player that he is interested in but admits it’s unlikely that Liverpool would be prepared to let him go during their defensive injury crisis.
The 27-year-old was a key player under Klopp during his first 18 months at the club before he was usurped by Trent Alexander-Arnold whose rise to prominence in a Red shirt has a been a joy to watch.
As the season nears the midway point, it’s actually incredible that Clyne has yet to make a single Premier League appearance but injuries to Joe Gomez and Trent mean that he will soon get his chance.

When asked if Cardiff are interested in Clyne, Warnock replied: “Yes. I know Nathaniel. I gave him his debut, a lovely lad and I know his mother well she is a wonderful woman.
“The thing about that is [Liverpool] have had a lot of injuries, they are in European competition, the league and they’ve got to look after themselves. So at the moment it’s very difficult to get anybody to commit to letting us have one for definite – 100 per cent.
“He’d be one on our list definitely yes, we’re looking for that position but at the moment they have other problems.
“I don’t think they would bother about us at the moment, they have to look after themselves.”
