Jurgen Klopp claims Liverpool’s points tally at this stage of the season has left him feeling ‘really strange’.

The Reds are unbeaten in the Premier League after 20 games, with a huge points tally of 54, and a seven point lead over Thursday’s rivals.

Klopp says that Liverpool’s start to the season has been ‘unbelievable’, and that the team are firmly on the hunt for success.

“We are [hungry]. We don’t think about the gap, not for a second. What we think about is 54 points – unbelievable, to be honest. That’s really strange and feels strange.

“All we can do is keep going; recover first of all, that’s very important, and then prepare the next game.

“We all know, wow, Man City are a fantastic football team and an away game at City – who can go there and think ‘probably we will win’? No team in the world, not even us.”

He added: “We have to go there and try everything to get a result. That’s what we will try.”

The Reds will go ten points clear of the champions with victory, though Tottenham have the chance to make up some ground in the chase when they play Cardiff on Wednesday.

A victory for City will see them cut the gap between them and Liverpool to four points, making it a crucial moment in the chase for the title.
