Mohamed Salah wins BBC African Footballer of the Year award

European Best Pictures Of The Day - December 08, 2018

Mohamed Salah has won the BBC African Player of the Year award for the second year running and beat Liverpool teammate Sadio Mane and Arsenal forward to the prestigious honour.

Breaking the record for goals scored in a 38-game Premier League record with 32 strikes and helping guide Liverpool to the Champions League final are two of Salah’s finest achievements this year.

The Egyptian icon beat Sadio Mane, Medhi Benatia Kalidou Koulibaly and Thomas Partey in an online poll to scoop the accolade for the second successive year.

Days after seeing Liverpool through to the next round of the Champions League after scoring a wonderful individual goal, Salah has been recognised for his incredible form over the last year.

The Egyptian was ranked lower than some might have thought in the voting for France Football’s Balon d’Or but there is no doubt that he is the best player in Africa at the moment.

After receiving the prize again, Salah will likely receive a big confidence boost just in time for this weekend’s big clash against Manchester United at Anfield.
