Sarri: Premier League title race is between Liverpool and Man City

Maurizio Sarri believes that Liverpool and Manchester City are still the favourites to win the Premier League despite Tottenham’s stealthy rise to second in the table.

Spurs are six points behind the Reds and have scored 11 goals in their last two league meetings, recently leapfrogging champions Man City in the log.

Yet, despite the impressive work Mauricio Pochettino has done at Spurs, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri thinks that it’s still a two-horse race between leaders Liverpool and City.

“You know very well my opinion. As I said from the beginning of the season there are two teams a step above, Liverpool and Manchester,” Sarri said.

“Now there is a little gap, I think City will be able to recover the gap, the title is fighting between City and Liverpool.”

Earlier in the season, the Chelsea boss commented: “Manchester City is in another category. We have to play and fight to be in the top four. It is very difficult the result for staying in the top four,” he said in early December.

“For me City is the best team in Europe and maybe the best team in the world.”
