German football expert on Liverpool’s summer plans to sign €100million striker
German football expert Raphael Honigstein believes Timo Werner could leave RB Leipzig for a total outlay north of €100million with a few options within Germany and without.
The 22-year-old has 18 months remaining on his contract and could leave at the end of next season for free if he refuses to sign a new deal.
For ESPN, Honigstein writes that the forward has several options to consider in his homeland with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund very interested in Werner while Leipzig still harbour hopes of tying him down to a new contract.

For Liverpool, Honigstein suggests that although Jurgen Klopp is a massive fan of Werner and that the RB Leipzig striker would be perfect for the way the Reds play, he writes: “a fourth transition-type forward for a total outlay north of €100m might not be a priority right now. ”
The German football expert claims Liverpool are more interested in signing “a versatile centre-back with the ability to deputise in wide areas” – much like Joe Gomez.
As the last month has shown, the Reds have really struggled with injuries at the back and although an injury to one of Mane, Salah or Firmino could be devastating, Klopp is quickly running out of senior defenders.
