€60million Liverpool target being offered new contract with release clause

Lyon are offering Nabil Fekir a new contract and club president  Jean Michel-Aulas has admitted that he is willing to include a release clause in the deal to allow the Frenchman the chance to leave for a bigger club.

The Reds came agonisingly close to signing Fekir in the summer before pulling the plug on a £53million deal over concerns that he is not durable enough as a result of a problem with his knee that surfaced during his medical.

As recent stalemates against Leicester and West Ham have shown, Liverpool are in need of the creativity and drive from midfield that Fekir provides not to mention he can actually beat the first man from a corner.

“For now, it is stalled as there are many things going on at the moment,” Aulas told RMC Sport, via Inside Futbol.

“We have entered the Champions League phase, which will keep us busy and we intend to resume discussions right after that. Nabil is very interested in continuing at Lyon.

“He will have the opportunity to leave if an offer suits him.

“We are ready to offer him all this: a long term contract with a release clause if he wishes. I hope things can move forward as he is one of our best players, a world champion and he is something special.”
