Bayern Munich reportedly star suffers ligament damage ahead of Liverpool clash
Manuel Neuer has reportedly suffered a serious injury and will miss both legs of the Round of 16 tie against Liverpool.
The Reds will be without Virgil van Dijk as the Dutchman will be serving a one-match suspension and this will be a big boost for Bayern but the loss of Neuer is just as significant.
According to SportBild, Neuer has suffered a “blemish on the right hand” and will be out for a while as he has torn ligaments supporting his thumb.

Speaking ahead of Bayern’s DFB-Pokal match with Hertha Berlin on Wednesday, Kovac gave an update on Neuer: “He feels good. He’d like to play straight away, but we need the all clear from the doctors, which we haven’t had yet.
“We can’t say anything concrete regarding tomorrow – we also have to wait until after training.”
The reports from Germany have yet to be confirmed by anyone from Bayern but if Neuer was to miss the clash at Anfield as well as the second leg at the Allianz Arena, it would be a big boost for Liverpool’s chances of progressing to the quarter finals.
