Bayern Munich Boss Niko Kovac Issues Warning Ahead of Liverpool Clash

“Every shot is a goal at the moment,” Kovac says of his team

Bayern Munich’s last match before they take on Liverpool in the round of 16 took place on Friday evening against Augsburg. The German champions ended up winning the match 3-2, but that’s a rather generous result considering the first half calamity Bayern experienced. They even conceded an own goal within 14 seconds of kickoff.

Understandably, Bayern Munich boss Niko Kovac wasn’t completely pleased with his team’s performance. During his post-match press conference, Kovac issued a warning to his side.

“We struggled to get into the game,” Kovac said. “I can’t remember conceding a goal so early, that was very annoying. We knew that Augsburg wanted to play man against man and that they are a physical side. But we couldn’t organize the side and it took 35 minutes to settle it somehow. Every shot is a goal at the moment. When we have the ball, we don’t play like I expect the team to play.”

Kovac would then go on to explain how Liverpool could hurt Bayern if Bayern continued to be sloppy.

“Their second goal is a good example. The second ball with all that room in the back is something that can’t happen, Liverpool would punish us for that sort of mistake.” Kovaic said. “Defensively, we need to be better working backwards, and that is something that will be going into my analysis.”
