Liverpool Head to Marbella for Warm Weather Training Camp

With a ten day break before Bayern Munich, the Reds are taking a working break.

With a ten day break before they face off against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, Liverpool headed off on another warm weather training camp today, with Jürgen Klopp and the coaching staff taking a squad of 31 to Marbella to recharge and prepare.

Liverpool’s previous break, a short trip to Dubai, didn’t help much with the subsequent results but a mid-season dip in form—a dip that Saturday’s victory over Bournmeouth hopefully signals the end of—over the course a long season is hardly unheard of.

And even that dip only led to four dropped points—or seven over the past three months if you include the earlier loss to Manchester City. City, on the other hand, dropped 12 over those same three months even with their league victory over Liverpool.

Now, the goal will be to ensure the players are fully fit and energised—with all but Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to be ready for Bayern—as the club push on into the final third of what could well end up a history season for Klopp’s Reds.

As for the Marbella trip, Gomez was left behind to continue his rehab following surgery while Oxlade-Chamberlain was included and will participate, even if that shouldn’t be taken as a sign that his return to action is imminent—an April return remains likely.

Along with the regular first team players, Rhian Brewster, Nat Phillips, Lloyd Jones, Ki-Jana Hoever, Ben Woodburn, Caoimhin Kelleher, Rafa Camacho, Isaac Christie-Davies, Corey Whelan, and Adam Lewis were also included in the travelling squad.
