Liverpool launch €70million bid to sign thrilling forward in the summer

Reports in Italy claim that Liverpool have made a €70million bid to sign Lorenzo Insigne in the summer.

While the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane hasn’t been as terrifying as it was last season, there is no denying the threat posed by the Liverpool trio.

That said, a club as big as club is always on the lookout for players that can bolster and improve its ranks and, if Italian news outlet La Repubblica is to be believed, sporting director Michael Edwards has identified Lorenzo Insigne as a player that can improve the Reds.

The Italian news outlet – English translation via Sport Witness – claims that Liverpool have lodged a €70m bid for Lorenzo Insigne but club president Aurelio De Laurentiis rejected the offer as he wants closer to €150m.

Liverpool rarely spend over £30m on players and when they do, they only do so on bonafide game-changers with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson a testament to this.

Insigne would represent a huge upgrade on the forwards Liverpool have and would be a wast of money at anything over £60million when you consider he has almost no resale value at 27 years of age.
