Major update on key Bayern Munich performer ahead of Liverpool clash
Manuel Neuer was not included in Bayern Munich’s squad to face Hertha Berlin in the DFB Pokal last night as concerns grow over his fitness ahead of a trip to face Liverpool in the Champions League.
The German has struggled with injury over the last 18 months but before that, he was widely considered as the best goalkeeper in the world and is still a world class shot-stopper.
Reports from his homeland claim that ligament damage in his thumb could prevent him from facing the Reds later this month which would be a serious blow for the Bavarians.

The 32-year-old travelled with his teammates to Berlin but was not involved in the matchday squad to face Hertha as concerns grow over his fitness.
A post on Bayern’s Twiter account said: “For Manuel Neuer the cup match against Hertha Berlin came a bit early.
“The captain had indeed travelled to Berlin. Niko Kovac, however, did not want to take any risk and therefore refrained from using the 32-year-old.”
