We’re out of the mid-season transfer window and everyone’s attention appears to be back on whether or not Liverpool are going to trip up before the end of the season, thus costing themselves their first title in approximately four hundred and thirty years. We can all assume that the team is doing everything they can in their power to win the league, but paragon of Having Takes, Graeme Souness, has weighed in with a clever strategy, just in case Klopp hadn’t thought of it.

“You’re going to have to win every single game, Liverpool, to win this league,” Souness said after Manchester City’s 6-0 win over Chelsea this weekend. The strategy proposed is a sound one: each game won does, after all, result in three points. And, in case readers or Klopp had forgotten, the team with the most points wins the league, after all.

In all seriousness, it’s true that City seems to have completely recovered from their terrible December, but hopefully the same can be said of Liverpool’s slightly less terrible January. The Reds won their game against Bournemouth 3-0, but it wasn’t the scoreline as much as the way the team played that was exciting for fans. The listlessness of the past few games had disappeared and the team that everyone wanted to watch was back, and how.

Still, Souness isn’t the only one who thinks the tides have turned against the Reds.

“The pressure on Liverpool is huge, and I think in the end, City are going to win this, and they’re going to win it by six points maybe,” Neil Custis told the Sunday Supplement. “They’ve got more strength in depth.”

City are probably a stronger team than Liverpool, with a number of incredible players. But it’s incredibly important to remember that Liverpool still have a game in hand and have only lost one game so far this season. Things can still change for the club, but for now, this is still ours to lose.
