Former Liverpool legend sends encouragement to title-chasing Reds

Former Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has sent an encouraging message to Reds supporters via his Twitter account.

Torres remains one Liverpool’s all-time great forwards after his prolific three-year spell at the club, and is still popular among the majority of the Reds’ fan base.

Now playing for Japanese side Sagan Tosu, the 35-year-old clearly still has a soft spot for his former Merseyside club.

After being wished Happy Birthday by the official Liverpool Twitter account, Torres responded with a message of support for the club.

He wrote back: “Thank you Reds!!! All the best for the rest of the season I’ll be cheering for you!!! Big times ahead !!!”

Liverpool return to action after the international break with a crucial match against Tottenham Hotspur.
