Liverpool Loanee’s Season Potentially Derailed By Injury
A serious groin injury might reduce the likelihood of us seeing two H. Kanes in the Premier League next year.
Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane has learned that he will likely be facing a six-week spell on the sidelines after sustaining a serious groin injury. The injury likely means that Kane is unlikely to feature again for Doncaster Rovers during this particular season, and is a significant setback for the club, for whom Kane had become an integral player, having notched seven goals and nine assists during his forty-one appearances.
Doncaster had been making a push for a playoff spot in their League One fight for promotion, but a handful of indifferent performances as of late, coupled with Kane’s injury and an ankle injury for Ben Whiteman, spells a tough final phase of the season. For Liverpool, it’s also unwelcome news about a prospect who had been doing well while on loan, scoring a few eye-catching long-distance goals along the way.
20 year-old Kane signed a new contract with Liverpool back in December 2018, after impressing during the first half of his stay at Doncaster. He has represented England at the U-17 level, and both he and the club were no doubt looking to see if the midfielder could follow in the path of his fellow Academy product Trent Alexander-Arnold over the summer. That task will now be a little more difficult.
