Mixed results for Reds on international duty
Liverpool’s international contingent experienced a range of results on Sunday, with some positive scorelines mixed in with a few decidedly-negative ones.
Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum played for the Netherlands in a 3-2 loss to Germany in their Euro 2020 qualifier, in which Nico Schulz scored a last-minute winner for the German side.
Another poor result saw Dejan Lovren return from injury only to play 90 minutes in Croatia’s 2-1 loss against Hungary.

Andy Robertson’s Scotland, however, managed to beat San Marino 2-0 in their Group I qualifying match, while both Simon Mignolet and Divock Origi remained on the bench for Belgium’s 2-0 win over Cyprus.
Harry Wilson played 87 minutes for Wales against Slovakia in their first Euro 2020 qualifier – Ben Woodburn remained on the bench throughout, in spite of his heroics in the previous game.
Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher didn’t concede in the Republic of Ireland U21s match against Luxembourg, which they won 3-0. Curtis Jones played a key role in England U18s win over Mexico in the UAE Sport Chain Cup in Dubai, scoring the winning goal. Rhys Williams and Bobby Duncan also played a part in the win.
