Sadio Mané: We Want to Win All Our Remaining Games
Upbeat tone from in form man.
If Liverpool have a man of the moment, it is Sadio Mané.
The Senegalese wide forward has been in red hot form in recent months, scoring not just by the bucketful but in crucial moments. His speed and work rate are widely recognised, but his ability to arrive at the right moments has been particularly useful. As much as anyone else, Mané typifies the way Jürgen Klopp wants this Liverpool team to play.
And the man himself doesn’t seem to be feeling too much pressure.
“It’s very clear to us what we have to do”, Mané told The Mirror, on Liverpool’s title race with Manchester City. “We want to win all our remaining seven games, and wait for Manchester City to crack. That’s the way things are and in the dressing room we know it.
“The numbers are clear and our great challenge is to win our matches. Every one will be a final and we cannot fail in any of them if we want to be champions.
“The message is that we must be ready for two hard months and the key is to forget about Manchester City and focus only on the matches and nothing else. In my mind success depends on us – and only us.
“Tottenham are still there with options, but if we beat them the picture will be a lot clearer.
“It’s the first game in two vital months that will decide the title. The players are ready and my message to the fans is to trust us and support us to the very maximum.
“I know they will – and in return we will try to win all the trophies we can this season.”
It at times feels as though the title race is in the hands of the gods. Liverpool could win every game and still City might be a step ahead. All we can do is go into the games in the best shape we can be in, and Mané is certainly doing that.
