Jurgen Klopp impressed with Alisson’s start to life at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp believes his new goalkeeper, Alisson, will only get better as time goes on, despite an impressive start to his career on Merseyside.

Liverpool brought in Alisson over the summer to become the mainstay goalkeeper at the club, and he certainly has not disappointed after he was purchased for a fee of £65million from AS Roma.

The Brazilian has only conceded three goals from eight games in the Premier League, having made a number of big saves to keep the tally as low as it is.

Klopp though believes Alisson will only get better despite the impressive start.

“You never know, but in this specific case, we could have been pretty sure that the quality will be outstanding,” said the Liverpool manager, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“Anything can happen and you can get injured, but when he stays fit, it’s pretty clear that the space is there for improvement because time will make him better.

“As a goalkeeper, it is very important that you judge the situations right and the more games you have, the easier it is to do that.

“You see what happens with a striker when they do things without thinking and these things will only make him better, so that is good.”

Alisson has proven that he not only has the ability to play with his feet, which was highlighted as a strength from his Roma days, but his shot-stopping ability is just as impressive, which is a key reason why the Reds spent the money they did to gain the services of the Brazilian.

“That is the main reason why he bought him! To be good at catching balls!” said Klopp.

“The best thing is if we don’t talk about the goalkeeper too much because that would mean he is without any mistakes.

“After the Napoli game, when your goalkeeper is your best player in the game, you know something is wrong, but not in his game. That was absolutely perfect.”
