Former Man United boss praises Klopp and Pochettino

Jose Mourinho has praised Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino after the two manager engineered their respective sides to the Champions League final this week.

Sensational second-leg comebacks from Liverpool and Tottenham saw Barcelona and Ajax dumped out of the competition, setting up an all-English final on June 1.

And Mourinho, who has rarely had anything positive to say about Klopp in particular, offered encouraging words to the two managers.

“I think that a very good quality for a manager is to read the battle, to read your soldiers and their qualities and try to win that battle,” Mourinho said.

“Football is to have fun, to make people jumping in front of their screens for the past two days.

“But football is about winning.

“To speak about the final, I will be in trouble, because I like Mauricio and Jurgen very, very much and I think they both deserve to win a trophy.

“The first trophy for Jurgen with Liverpool, the first trophy for Mauricio with Spurs.

“I think it will be a fantastic final and I just hope Liverpool and Spurs fans enjoy Madrid.

“I hope they behave amazingly well, and they give to football the same things that both teams are giving.”
