Liverpool duo Van Dijk and Wijnaldum rate Memphis Depay highly

Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum are big fans of Liverpool-linked Memphis Depay, according to the Echo.

Depay has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield in the last few weeks, though recent reports have suggested the Reds aren’t interested in signing him.

The Dutchman has been in fine form this season for Lyon in Ligue 1, scoring 12 goals and creating 16 assists in 47 appearances.

The 25-year-old could be available for £50million this summer, though clubs aren’t keen on spending quite as much on a player who struggled in the Premier League for Manchester United.

The Echo report, however, that Depay’s international teammates Van Dijk and Wijnaldum would be happy to see him at Anfield.

The pair rate Depay highly after playing with him regularly for Holland, especially since he appears to have come of age as a player during his time in France.

Whether or not Liverpool will change their stance and move for Depay remains to be seen.
