Liverpool receive boost in pursuit of Timo Werner

Liverpool have received a boost after RB Leipzig CEO Ralf Rangnick revealed that Bayern Munich are no longer interested in signing Timo Werner, according to the Mirror.

Werner is keen to move on from Leipzig this summer, with a switch to the Allianz Arena appearing likely for a while.

However, Rangnick has poured cold water on the rumours of a transfer happening within the Bundesliga this summer.

“I would not be so sure that Werner will actually go to Bayern,” Rangnick told Sport Bild.

“If Bayern were absolutely sure about Timo, they would have already officially contacted us with a request. Anything else would be unusual for Bayern, especially since we have a good relationship with them.

“Our position has not changed: we do not want him to go into the last year of his contract without an extension.”

Leipzig are eager to sell Werner this summer to ensure they don’t lose him for nothing next year once his contract expires.

The Reds have been linked with a move for Werner for months, with speculation ramping up in recent weeks.
