Liverpool could join race for Bundesliga centre-back

Liverpool have reportedly been linked with a summer move for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

The centre-back is also attracting interest from Manchester United and Arsenal after enjoying a successful season with Leipzig.

He originally signed with the Bundesliga side in 2017 from FC Sochaux and has gone on to make 42 appearances this season, scoring three goals.

The 19-year-old is contracted until June 2023, however, so Leipzig are under no real pressure to sell him this year.

Konate is a France U21 international and could represent a good long-term prospect for Liverpool, who have a history of targeting younger players and developing them.

It remains to be seen whether or not the Reds will indeed make a move for him, with the emergence of Joe Gomez still ongoing at the club and links wit Matthijs de Ligt continuing to linger.
