Reds Depart For Marbella Training Camp With Roberto Firmino Already There

He’s on track to come back, y’all!

As the season wound to a close in the league, Jurgen Klopp gave our Liverpool players 5 days of rest to take stock and recharge some batteries. It had been a long, grueling season in the league and the toil that came with coming second by two points needed to be addressed and soothed. Players took their own small holidays through the week, going to places in the Middle East and across Europe, or even to different homes, to rest their weary bones.

But the week is over now and it’s time to start getting ready for the biggest match of the year - the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp already decided that Liverpool would take advantage of another warm weather camp leading up to the final in Madrid and had settled on the Costa Del Sol in Marbella once again to host them. Temperatures are supposed to hang around 23-28 degrees Celsius (73-82~ Fahrenheit) so it should be the perfect chance to acclimate to the weather in Madrid. The team are set to fly out of Liverpool to Marbella on Monday.

Thankfully, one of our last injured hold outs has gotten a head start with Roberto Firmino heading to the Marbella camp over the weekend - ahead of the rest of the team - to get started. Firmino had been sidelined with a muscle strain through the last few matches of the season, but came to Marbella with the Reds’ strength and condition assistant David Rydings.

With this bit of training, Bobby is on track to be ready for the final in Madrid on June 1st and hopefully provide the type of work that makes our engine do it’s thing - especially against a team we know well.

Thankfully, this should be the camp that didn’t give everyone stomach bugs (that was Dubai). The Reds also visited Marbella last year ahead of the Champions League final in Kyiv, and that match started well before you know, things happened.
