Reds in pole position to sign 21-year-old Swansea midfielder

Liverpool have jumped to the head of the queue to sign Swansea City midfielder Daniel James after it was revealed that the young Welsh player is a Reds fan.

The 21-year-old has four goals and seven assists in 32 games for Swansea this season, and has attracted much attention from a host of Premier League clubs.

Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United have all been linked with a move, but it now appears as though the Reds are the frontrunners for his signature, according to Jim White.

“Swansea City have got this lad Daniel James, very impressive youngster,” White said. “He’s rated at about £10million plus add-ons.

“It’s my understanding this morning five of the top six, all apart from Manchester City, have enquired about Daniel James at Swansea.

“He was actually recommended to Manchester United by Ryan Giggs.

“He’s a kid but he’s got a pedigree already. But he’s a big Liverpool fan and I wonder, are we going to see this kid Daniel James heading towards Liverpool?

“So if the news wasn’t great for Liverpool, it might even get better very soon.”

It remains to be seen if Liverpool will capitalise on their advantage in the race for James’ signature.
