Reds scout Lyon trio ahead of potential summer moves

Liverpool are tracking three players from Lyon ahead of potential transfer moves, according to the Mirror.

Anfield scouts watched Lyon’s 3-0 win against Marseille at the Stade Velodrome this weekend, in which Maxine Cornet (2) and Moussa Dembele scored.

And reports have emerged suggesting Reds staff were in attendance to observe central midfielder Houssem Aouar, as well as Tanguy Ndombele and Memphis Depay.

20-year-old Aouar has played 45 times this season for Lyon and has been in excellent form throughout the campaign.

Pep Guardiola even commented on him earlier in the season, saying: “He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”

22-year-old French international Ndombele was also being watched, with Juventus very keen on a move for him this summer, according to the Lyon president.

“Honestly, I would like to see Ndombele at Juventus with [Miralem] Pjanic, a player that broke out at Lyon and a player I am still very attached to,” he said. “We will see what happens.”

Finally, former Manchester United player Memphis Depay, 25, was also being monitored by the Liverpool scouts. Depay has bagged 10 goals and 15 assists this season in Ligue 1 and is eager to return to the Premier League.

Depay, 25, has made no secret of his desire to return to one of Europe’s major leagues after scoring 10 goals and registering 15 assists this term.
