Roberto Firmino Rejoins Training with Liverpool Teammates

The centre forward is expected to be fit to face Tottenham in the Champions League final.

With Roberto Firmino heading to Marbella ahead of the rest of the Liverpool squad to work on conditioning ahead of a potential return to action in the Champions League final, there was good reason to hope that he would in fact be ready to face Tottenham.

Those hopes were further boosted today as Firmino was able to join up up with teammates in training, with suggestions he is now fully recovered from a mild muscle tear suffered ahead of Liverpool’s league game against Huddersfield back on April 26th.

Following the injury, Firmino sat out against Huddersfield but attempted to play in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, coming off the bench but failing to make an impact. He missed the next three games, including the semi-final home leg.

When his attempt to return immediately failed, reports suggested he might miss around a month in total due to the injury, ruling out a return before the final but offering at least the possibility that Firmino could be ready to play if Liverpool made it to Madrid.

The 4-0 victory at Anfield that overturned a 3-0 first leg defeat at the Camp Nou, then, meant Firmino’s season might not be over. And now, with the player back in full training, it appears as though might has become isn’t.
