Reds Close to Wrapping up Deal for Polish Starlet

Liverpool’s first piece of transfer business this summer appears to be all but done.

Most of the time, for nearly three decades now, the final month of the football season has been a time for Liverpool fans to begin planning for next year. There have been outliers, of course; title races in 2009 and 2014, as well as Champions League finals in 2005 and 2007 have seen the Reds faithful focus on the football yet to be played right up until the very end, but then again, there have been times when planning for next season have taken up nearly half the campaign.

2019 is special in that regard, marking the first time since 1985 that the Reds will play in the ultimate game of the European campaign two years in a row. With a thrilling title race going down to the final day of the Premier League as well, there has been little time for Reds fans to worry too much about what their club will get up to in the summer.

Michael Edwards and his minions, however, are never at rest, and have reportedly just about wrapped up the club’s first signing of the 2019 transfer window. According to the club’s official site, Legia Warszawa will be selling their 16-year old goalkeeper Jakob Ojrzyński to the Anfield outfit promptly, with the Reds beating out rivals Manchester United to the youngster’s signature.

The U-16 international will cost the Merseysiders somewhere between €250-300k, and given that he has yet to make his senior debut, is undoubtedly brought in as a prospect for the long-term. The 16-year old cited working under Jürgen Klopp as a key component in making the move, and he will join compatriot Kamil Grabara between the reserve sticks at the Anfield club.

It’s not a mouthwatering marquee signing by any means, but it is good to see that work is ongoing to secure a bright future for the club to go with its shiny present.
