FSG considering ambitious new expansion plans for Anfield

Liverpool are considering another expansion to Anfield Stadium that would push the seating capacity beyond the 60,000 figure, according to The Times.

Planning permission is already in place to expand the Anfield Road end with a further 5,000 seats, taking the capacity to just below 60,000.

However, with that application set to expire in September, FSG are preparing to explore a new, more ambitious option for the famous old stadium.

The Main Stand was redeveloped three years ago, when 9,000 seats were added at a cost of £100million, loaned to the club by FSG.

Liverpool’s main priority is to complete the new £50million training facility at Kirkby, which is set to open next year, meaning the coming season will be the Reds’ last at Melwood.

Only Old Trafford, the Emirates Stadium and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium can currently hold more than 60,000 people.
