Jurgen Klopp could take a sabbatical from football in 2022

Jurgen Klopp may take a year’s sabbatical at the end of his current Liverpool contract in 2022, according to ESPN FC.

The Reds boss has been open in the past about his desire to take a break from management at the end of his current deal.

The 51-year-old has thought it over and discussed it with his family, who support him in the decision, should he choose to enjoy a 12-month rest period.

FSG are eager to extend Klopp’s contract beyond 2022 but will accept whatever decision he chooses to make, though the German has not yet made a definite decision on the matter.

The Liverpool owners have a very positive relationship with Klopp and would reportedly have extended his deal regardless of whether or not the Reds won the Champions League final last weekend.

They remain optimistic that he will sign a new deal, however, and will work closely with Klopp to ensure his wishes are respected if he chooses to take a break from the “intensity” of football management.
