Liverpool believe Nicolas Pepe links are a transfer ploy

Liverpool have made their stance on Lille striker Nicolas Pepe clear, according to the Mirror.

The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer, with L’Equipe reporting that a £70million bid was already on the table.

However, those suggestions are apparently wide of the mark, with Liverpool believing the links between them and the player are simply a ploy to drive up his price tag (Evening Standard).

The 24-year-old bagged 22 goals this season to help his side reach second place in Ligue 1.

The Echo claim that any links between Pepe and Liverpool are false, however, with no talks having taken place for the player, or likely to do so this summer.

Pepe has also been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal, but Bayern Munich are now favourites to sign him.
