Liverpool linked with transfer move for Serie A left-back

Liverpool are preparing a summer transfer swoop for Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa, according to TuttoMercatoWeb, via the Express.

The Reds are in need of more competition at left-back with Alberto Moreno set to leave on a free transfer on July 5, and Chiesa fits the bill.

The 21-year-old played 37 out of 38 matches for Fiorentina this season, where he’s contracted until 2022.

Juventus are also said to be keen on acquiring him this summer, with Inter Milan also closely monitoring his situation.

“The interest of certain clubs makes me happy,” Chiesa himself stated earlier this month.

“But right now I’m at Coverciano [Italy training camp] and available to [Roberto] Mancini.

“I’m focused on this while also following what is happening with Fiorentina and the negotiation between the Della Valle [former Fiorentina owner] and Commisso [new Fiorentina owner].

“How do I handle these offers? I put my cell on airplane mode.

“So far I have yet to speak to anyone at the club. The announcement that was posted.

“I repeat, I didn’t talk to anyone at the club.”
