Van den Berg flown into London yesterday for talks

Imminent Liverpool signing Sepp van den Berg was flown into London earlier this week for contract talks, according to the Evening Standard.

News broke at the start of the week that the Dutch defender was being pursued by the Reds, with Jurgen Klopp confident that the deal could be completed swiftly.

Van den Berg made 15 appearances last season for PEC Zwolle in the Eredivisie and was the subject of interest from a host of top European clubs.

Ajax, PSV and Bayern Munch were all keen on landing the 17-year-old, but it appears the European Champions have beaten them all to the punch.

The young defender, who has been compared to Joe Gomez in terms of his development rate, reportedly travelled north to Liverpool yesterday to undergo a medical.

The Reds hope to finalise the €1.9million deal before the weekend and make Van den Berg their first signing of the summer.
