Werder Bremen deny Liverpool approach for goalkeeper

Werder Bremen have confirmed that they will not sell goalkeeper Jiri Pavlenka to Liverpool this summer, according to the Echo.

The Reds had been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, who has enjoyed a good season for his side.

Liverpool are in the market for a new backup goalkeeper, with Simon Mignolet set to leave this summer and Lloris Karius remaining on loan at Besiktas for another season.

However, sporting director Frank Bauman says the stopper is going nowhere.

“We plan with Pavlenka for the new season,” he said. “There is no offer from Juventus or Liverpool for Jiri Pavlenka.”

The Czech Republic international is contracted at Werder Bremen until 2021.
