Divock Origi Reportedly Expected to Sign New Liverpool Deal

Reliable reports have the striker prepared to sign a new contract.
Divock Origi may not be first choice in an attack comprising Sadio Mané, Mohamed Salah, and Robeto Firmino, but with Daniel Sturridge gone and Liverpool heading into a season where they will compete for seven trophies, he knows he will get minutes.
That is what the player believes, and it is what he has been told by Jürgen Klopp, who has made it clear to Origi that he heads into the 2019-20 campaign as first choice backup to all three of the club’s starters. And that has convinced him to sign a new deal.
That’s the story today from ESPN’s Melissa Reddy, who says that progress has been made behind the scenes and a new deal for Origi is now imminent, with the player set to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the 12 months his current deal runs through.
The club had previously made clear that Origi would not be sold this summer regardless whether he signed a new deal, but a new contract that will protect his value even if things don’t go as the player and club hope this season is obviously good news.
And with Firmino, Salah, and Mané all missing the start of pre-season due to their summer international commitments—with Mané and Senegal still playing at the Africa Cup of Nations—Origi will get a full pre-season and plenty of chances to impress.
