The club would consider letting the goalkeeper leave this summer, but only if his full valuation is met.

Simon Mignolet is happy to stay, says Jürgen Klopp. Simon Mignolet is looking to leave, says his agent. Simon Mignolet is just keeping his focus on helping the team, says Simon Mignolet. We don’t quite know what’s going on with Simon Mignolet, say the rest of us.

But a few things are clear when it comes to the club’s backup goalkeeper, at least according to The Liverpool Echo, who today say that Liverpool’s preference is to retain the player and that in any case Mignolet will not be loaned out or sold for a cut-rate fee this summer.

However, Liverpool are said to be “sympathetic” to the player’s continuing desire to be a starting goalkeeper somewhere, suggesting that if a club were to offer a fee that matches their valuation of him, Mignolet could as yet depart the club in the coming weeks.

Just what Liverpool’s valuation of Mignolet is isn’t clear, but The Echo say it would take a big money offer. Which, broadly speaking, means we’re still in the position of not really knowing whether Simon Mignolet will be a Liverpool player this season or if he won’t be.

What we can say, then, is that the club would like to keep him. The player’s agent is trying to find a solution that would see him first choice goalkeeper somewhere. And unless a big enough offer comes along, Simon Mignolet will probably continue to be a good teammate.
