The Goalkeeper’s Union is Strong: Adrian Dedicates Super Cup Win to Alisson

Unlike certain heavily-armed Orange frauds, Jurgen Klopp really does know the best people. It is generally known that the Liverpool boss has a “no assholes” policy around Melwood, and that appears evident throughout the squad, even down to the newly minted backup goalkeeper, Adrian.

In an interview with the club’s official website, Adrian let his sizeable personality shine through. And the first order of business was to dedicate the UEFA Super Cup win to his fallen comrade, Alisson Becker.

”After the game he text me again. I text him and said, ‘This is for you because you got the Champions League and this Super Cup’.

”Maybe he was not personally there, but his help was there with us in Istanbul.”

That’s all wonderful in its own right, but he was also quick to laugh off the Rocky Balboa reference, and discuss his umm...intimate relationship with Liverpool’s newest piece of silverware.

“In my time at West Ham many people called me like this,” Adrian laughed off the Rocky impression from Kloppo. “My name is funny to do this joke.

”The manager was great in that moment. Everyone was happy, smiling in that situation and the manager had a great moment.

”After just one week, I played in the Super Cup and got this great feeling. I felt full of happiness in myself.

”I was having dinner with the guys after the game and I spoke with Millie and he said, ‘OK, do you want to take the trophy with you?’.

”I said, ‘I will sleep with her, I’m more than happy to sleep with her!’.”

So, not only does Liverpool have the greatest goalkeeper, but also the greatest backup goalkeeper. Sorry, Migs. The pear business is interesting and all, but this lad is absolutely crackers.

Of course, it would be nice if Alisson returned sooner, rather than later. Or, barring that, it would be nice if Adrian didn’t record any more assists for the opposition.

Irrespective of when Alisson returns (which again, Fowler-willing, is soon), we have another big, happy personality for the dressing room, which can only bode well going forward.
