The Liverpool and Brazil shot stopper is training on his own as he targets a return to action.

Liverpool have more than held their own since goalkeeper Alisson Becker picked up a calf injury on the opening day of the Premier League season, with new backup Adrian proving his worth in their Super Cup triumph and with three goals against in four league wins.

Still, it will be a boost to the team when Alisson is able to return to action, and the Brazilian number one shared an update on social media today confirming he was hard at work, with the team having put him on a pre-season training regimen to get back up to speed.

Manager Jürgen Klopp previously stated that he has “no date in my mind” when it comes to exactly when Alisson will be fit to play again, but the player appears on track to rejoin team training in short order, and Newcastle on the 14th might not be out of the question.

Meanwhile, with Alisson one of three finalists with Ederson and Marc-Andre ter Stegen for FIFA’s goalkeeper of the year award, his Premier League rival and Brazil national team teammate today admitted that—for now at least—the Liverpool man has to be favourite.

“I think these three were best, but I see Alisson one step ahead,” Ederson said. “He made a great league season, won the Champions League, and had a great Copa America. Whoever wins will deserve it, but I’m glad two Brazilians are competing for this award.”
