Harry Wilson is Bournemouth’s Player of the Month

The Liverpool loanee has impressed the Bournemouth fans in the opening weeks of the season.
Harry Wilson has adapted seamlessly to the Premier League following his progress last season with Frank Lampard’s Derby County. The Welshman is now putting in solid performances for Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth and the Cherries supporters are loving it. Wilson was named the club’s Player of the Month.
The other nominees were midfielder Philip Billing, goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, and right back Adam Smith. Wilson walked away with a cool 55% of the conducted Twitter poll, a landslide victory.
Goals at Aston Villa and against Manchester City have enlivened the Bournemouth fan base. At Villa Park, it was Harry Wilson’s goal that won the match for the Cherries, their only win in four matches.
Bournemouth have struggled in recent seasons to maintain solid mid table footing. Other clubs that have risen from the Championship quickly surpassed Eddie Howe’s team. Wolves, come to mind. But there is quality at Bournemouth and the hope for Wilson, from a Liverpool perspective, is that the 22-year-old is able to progress under Howe for a full season. Jürgen Klopp will then have a better idea of the player’s usefulness to the Reds.
I expect Harry Wilson will eventually transfer to another Premier League club. He may have an unbelievable season at Bournemouth and alter that expectation but in order for Wilson to break into this Liverpool squad as a winger he’ll have to rise above the likes of Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Xherdan Shaqiri, just to name a few.
One way or another, Wilson’s upward trajectory will bode well for Liverpool, who will be adjusting the player’s valuation with every eye-catching display over the season.
