Liverpool could be set for Naby Keita injury boost

The Daily Express reports that Naby Keita could return to Liverpool’s matchday squad this weekend after missing nearly a month of action.

The domestic news outlet claims the Guinean is closing in on a return which would come as a massive boost to Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League title credentials as they look to outgun Manchester City.

The former RB Leipzig dynamo has the potential to become one of the best players in England but he needs to rid himself of the injury problems that continue to rule him out of contention.

Since Philippe Coutinho left Anfield, there has been a noticeable lack of a world-class playmaker playing centrally for Liverpool but on the occasions that Keita has been able to take to the field, his dribbling, silky passing and penetrative style of play has caught the eye.

If Keita is indeed nearing a return to action, that can only be a positive thing but it might be smarter for Liverpool to slowly introduce him back into training and the matchday squad.

It could also be useful to tailor his training programme in the same way that Daniel Sturridge was given bespoke sessions to manage the workload which seemed to seriously affect the muscle injuries he struggled to eradicate from his game.

Liverpool need Keita fully fit and as soon as possible to cope with the intense fixture schedule ahead.
