Oxlade-Chamberlain Opens Up About Last Season

The England international apparently still feels guilty about not being able to help the Reds win the league.
Last season feels years and years away, but fan favourite, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, is still thinking about his knee injury and the fact that the Reds narrowly missed out on the Premier League title. Back in action and ready to work for his starting place on the squad, Oxlade-Chamberlain is hoping to bring that little bit of magic that Liverpool needs to win the league.
“I think, for me, off the back of what the boys achieved last year, can I add that little bit extra?” the England international said during BT Sports Early Kick-Off this weekend. ”The boys in midfield played a lot of minutes and they all rotated really well. I’ve been added back into that now so it’s on me to try and bring a little something or some relief to the boys when they’ve played a lot.”
Rotation between the Reds’ Champions League run and the Premier League weighed heavily on the team, and without a doubt an extra pair of legs (especially ones attached to Oxlade-Chamberlain) would have been helpful.
“What they achieved last year was so extraordinary,” he added. “To miss out on the league in the way we did, it was really heart-breaking.
”For us, as a team, we know we need to do better. With teams like Man City, and how relentless they are, we know we have to do that.
”For me as an individual, my goals are to get back in and around the team and get back to doing something I let them down with last year by not being there.”
Obviously no one was let down by Oxlade-Chamberlain sustaining an injury that was clearly not his fault, and hopefully someone can give him a hug and maybe the treble so he stops feeling guilty.
