Gary Neville waxes lyrical about Trent Alexander-Arnold

Gary Neville told Sky Sports on the weekend that Jurgen Klopp is blessed to have Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back.
The former Manchester United star said: “Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best-attacking right-backs I’ve ever seen. If he improves some of his defensive play he will go down as one of the best”, adding, “he passes like a number 10”.
In an intensely fought game at Anfield, the Scouser created seven chances for his teammates to overtake Kevin De Bruyne (36) as the league’s most creative player this season, with 37 chances created.
When you consider that the Belgian plays in midfield with a free license to create, it’s unbelievable that Alexander-Arnold has come anywhere near him.
It becomes even more impressive when you add to that the fact that the right-back is just 21 years old, seven years younger than De Bruyne.
While I think criticisms of Alexander-Arnold’s defensive game are fair, you also need to consider that the system Liverpool employ requires him to be almost as far up the pitch as Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane – sometimes even further.
His defensive game is quite strong in fact, with the likes of Leroy Sane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Philippe Coutinho all being kept quiet in the Champions League over the last couple seasons.
