Jurgen Klopp slams Manchester United for "just defending"
Manchester United parked the bus at Old Trafford as they looked to frustrate Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp criticised their negative approach.
He told the press: “Why should it frustrate me? I’m not the person who should be frustrated by Man United’s style.
“It’s just a fact, when we come here, this year, last year, year before, they just defend. It’s not the usual way you think United plays against Liverpool, you would think both teams are trying like this.
“Again, the quality, we are the one team everybody is on their toes when United plays against us. It’s no excuse, we need to do better, we can do better, but you cannot play against each team like this, how they played today.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lined up with five defenders at Old Trafford, including three central defenders with his back line comprising of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young.
Liverpool were without Mohamed Salah and only introduced Naby Keita in the 82nd minute but they salvaged a point and their unbeaten record when Adam Lallana struck an 85th minute equaliser.
The Reds travel to Belgium on Wednesday as they face Genk in a Champions League group stage game.
